Chief Executive
Reporting to the President of the Council, the Chief Executive is responsible for planning, leading and co-ordinating all of the RVEEH’s activities, in a collegiate environment of integrity, respect for people, quality and team work. The successful candidate will present both long and short term strategies and plans for approval by the Council, and then provide effective leadership, support and direction to the executive management team to enable the Hospital to achieve its objectives within budgetary parameters. As well as managing all internal relationships, the Chief Executive will also be responsible for representing the Hospital’s interests with key external stakeholders, particularly the HSE on funding and related matters, and will play an important role in the hospital’s on-going development.
The Position of Chief Executive requires an experienced and appropriately qualified senior executive of outstanding calibre preferably with a hospital or healthcare background. The successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of managing major resources in a large complex organisation, and leading and directing a multi-disciplinary senior professional team in a rapidly changing environment. Together with strong strategic leadership and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the person appointed must be able to demonstrate significant financial and operational capabilities and equally have empathy with the mission and values of the RVEEH.

CONSULTANT ANAESTHETIST
Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital - 30.5 hours
St. Vincent’s University Hospital - 6.5 hours
The HSE has specified that the following qualification shall apply to this appointment:
• Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners
maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Anaesthesia.
Note: For the purposes of eligibility for entry to any competition or recruitment process associated with this post, applicants currently in employment as Senior or Specialist Registrars in HSE or HSE funded agencies may participate in the competition on the basis that, on the latest date for receipt of applications, they are within 6 months (26 weeks) of certification of completion of specialist training and that evidence for same is provided from the relevant recognised postgraduate medical training body in writing.

CLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN CORNEA AND EXTERNAL EYE DISEASE
This is a full-time commitment which offers advanced subspeciality training in cornea and external eye disease at the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital combined with an exciting opportunity to undertake research at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland leading to a higher degree. The position is suited to an Ophthalmologist who has completed Basic Specialist Training (Senior House Officer Grade) and holds MRCSI (Ophthalmology) or equivalent. The working week is divided 50:50 into clinical and research commitments. The clinical sessions include 3 cornea clinics, 1 general clinic, 1 anterior segment operating session and 1 night per week on call from 5pm to 9am. The remainder of the week will be devoted to translational research in herpes simplex keratitis with Professor Conor Murphy in conjunction with the molecular immunology group at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Facilities, research protocols and resources are in place at RCSI, St. Stephen's Green to conduct research of the highest standard that will enable the motivated individual to publish in international peer-reviewed journals and achieve a higher degree over the course of 1 (MCh) or 2 (MD) years. The post will commence in January 2011 or sooner depending on the availability of the successful candidate.
The salary scale for this post is Registrar (range from €50,578 - €60,305 pro rata) with 0.5 WTE paid in respect of clinical sessions and 0.5 WTE unpaid in respect of research sessions. On call hours to be reimbursed separately.
