Job Description

The Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital is a voluntary acute specialist hospital and is the national
tertiary centre for the treatment of Ophthalmic, Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck disorders.
Recognised as a University Teaching Hospital, it has a tradition of care stretching back to 1814 and has
looked after patients on its present site since 1904.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following post;
Director of Finance
Grade VIII (EUR 75,420 – 90,965)
This is a senior management position with overall responsibility for the strategic direction and
management of the Finance, Procurement and HIPE functions of the hospital. The successful
candidate will report to the Authorised Officer.
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
• A minimum level 8 NFQ (or international equivalent) qualification in finance.
• Hold full membership of a recognised accountancy body such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ACA or
equivalent.
• At least 10 years finance experience of which a minimum of 5 years significant experience at
senior leadership level in financial management and planning in a large complex organisation
with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience serving as an adviser to a CEO/Executive Management Team.
• Experience of large scale budget management.
• A high degree of analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills in finance and business
management.
• Have a track record of building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships and working
across multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable:
• A level 9 NFQ (or international equivalent) qualification in Finance.
• Previous experience in the health sector together with familiarity with public administration
and accounting systems.
