The Emergency Department provides an emergency care service for Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck conditions.
It is advised if at all possible to contact your G.P. before attending the A&E Department.

There is a €100 government levy payable for those attending without a GP referral letter or medical card.

Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)
Closed from: 4pm Monday 23rd December 2019, re-opening: 9am Thursday 2nd January 2020.
Please attend your local Emergency Department should you require Emergency ENT service.

Acute Eye Emergency Service will be available throughout this period from (8am to 7pm daily)

All days from 19:00 – 08:00 – Doctor to Doctor referral only, with prior telephone arrangement. There is no walk in service at this time.

Referring children to Ophthalmology

Children under 16 years must be accompanied by a parent / guardian.
Neonatal babies must be referred back to neonatal service.

Referring children to ENT

From December 17th 2014 we will only register patients aged 14 and over for ENT Emergency Department services. All patients up to age 13 inclusive should be referred to the appropriate paediatric hospital.
