CDU Operative
Central Decontamination Unit & Endoscopy Unit

(39 hours per week)
Salary €34,683 – €41,164 pro rata

(Department of Health Salary Scales, 1st of July 2022)

Professional Qualifications, Experience:
Each candidate must:
• Hold a relevant qualification in Health Services Skills or Health Care Support at QQI level 5 or higher
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as proven written and verbal communication abilities
• Understand the role of Central Decontamination Unit (CDU) Operative in the CDU
• Work with the CDU Manager to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the CDU
• CDU Deputy Supervisor as required
• Safeguarding the safety and welfare of patients and staff
• Provide a high standard of safe practice for patient care
• Act as a mentor for new staff
• Adhere to and maintain National Hygiene and Decontamination Standards and participate in monthly audits
• Be fully competent in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Candidates must ideally:
• Have a Decontamination Course or equivalent or are willing to undertake same
• Have at least 2 years’ experience in decontamination and/or CDU
• Have the ability to work on their own initiative
• Prioritise and manage a number of issues simultaneously and escalate when and where appropriate
• Demonstrate attention to detail
• Be motivated and able to identify potential difficulties and formulate solutions
• Have the ability to work in a team environment
