Experience

Essential:

  • Have excellent IT skills including proficiency in the application of Microsoft office

Desirable:

  • Previous cash handling experience

Knowledge / Skills

  • Ability to deal with a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Proven patient/customer contact
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Adaptable to meet service needs
  • Clear understanding of confidentiality

Desirable:

  • Best practice patient services
  • NHO Healthcare Records standards
  • Previous clerical experience in a healthcare environment
  •  Use of telephone in a busy environment

Qualifications

As per the Department of Health / HSE requirements

  • Have a high capacity for responsibility
  • Have well developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work on own initiative and work with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Have ability to deal with patient enquiries in a prompt and professional manner
  • To be able to work effectively within a small administration team during the day and be confident to work autonomously and unsupervised out of hours. This includes exercising a high degree of problem solving skills, utilising knowledge, experience and initiative and taking responsibility for making decisions to ensure the smooth effective running of the emergency department clerical / admin service
